an installation of sound and music making objects
Humans have been making clay instruments dating as far back as 7,000 years ago. The musical instruments sit on top of a clay landscape of simulated soundwaves. The intersections of these soundwaves allude to the similarities between instruments from various times and cultures.

XUN【塤】(pronounced "shoon")
Origins: China
The most primitive form of the Xun in clay was found 7000 years ago. Developed into a musical instrument in Shang dynasty (1600 – 1046BC).

OCARINA
Origins: China. Italy.
Records show the physics of the whistle originated in China around 5000 years ago. What we know today as "ocarinas," meaning "little goose" in Italian, was developed by the Italian maker, Giuseppe Donati. Originally used as a toy, it became appreciated a musical instrument. Ocarinas come in many shapes, forms, and sizes.

WHISTLING VESSEL
Origins: Ancient Peru
With whistling vessels dating as far back as 500BC - 1200AD. Little is known about the purpose of these vessels due to the lost of information after the Spanish Conquest, but they were likely used for secular and religious rituals.
